CTBE/CNPEM’s programs for students
CTBE and the national laboratories of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) develop programs to undergraduate and high school students with good academic performance, with the aim of training human resources for science, technology and innovation. The programs are outlined below:
Program aims students of technical and college courses interested in pursue internships in science, technology and management areas. The training period is one year, with possibility of extension for another year. The application phase takes place in the second half of each year and covers curriculum analysis and transcripts, written assessment, group dynamics and interviews. The successful candidate develops a training plan, under qualified guidance at CNPEM. The program offers for interns a stipend for up to 30 hours a week, health care plan, life insurance and other benefits in order to meet their basic, physical wellbeing, and social needs. Summer School Program
College students of Exact Sciences and Life Sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean can apply for the program. Selected candidates spend 55 days during the months of January and February to develop individual research project under researchers guidance at CNPEM.
Registrations are open in September and October of each year. The participants receive pass-way-trip from city of origin to Campinas, lodging, meals, and transport between the place of lodging and the CNPEM’s campus. The student must work exclusively to the activities of the program, from Monday to Friday (minimum of 40 hours per week). Further information at pages.cnpem.br/bolsasdeverao
Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC)
The program aims to develop scientific thinking in undergraduate students, contributing to the training of human resources in academic research area and reducing the average length to students achieve graduate degrees. Selected fellows are supervised by qualified researchers from CNPEM.
PIBIC last 12 months, starting in August of each year. A committee selects applicants according to the academic grades and monitors their performance through reports and evaluation of fellows seminars. Further information at pages.cnpem.br/pibic.
